Enjoying XPress in the Shop

XPress Lid… Fresh, Pressed and Custom

Since I am the only coffee drinker at the shop I appreciate the convenience of the XPress from Smartcup. French press coffee is the best way to enjoy coffee and I use a glass press at home but here at the shop the convenience of the single use cup can’t be beat. I am also impressed with the design and quality of the product. I wish I had come up with it!

What-Nots Opens a Cutting-Edge Vintage Furniture Store with the World’s 1st Portable French Press Coffee System

Michelle Shaheen and Terry Kennon brought to the greater Vienna, VA area an innovative retail idea from California and New York: a Vintage Furniture Coffee Shop. They enhanced the idea by serving premium coffee using the SmartCup’s XPress lid French press system.

Customers have the option of the XPress lid French press for coffee or tea made with Kangen Water, which is an ionization filter process. This ensures that each customer receives a premium beverage, every time.

What-Nots is a low-key place where Oakton, VA, residents can hang out and have a great cup of coffee. The difference is that the vintage 50’s dining room furniture they are sitting on can be purchased and sent home the same day.

Patrons have made What-Nots a destination place and have been surprised that something so easy to use (SmartCup’s XPress lid) delivers such a rich body of coffee.

“We opened last fall and each month our coffee business improves,” explained Shaheen. “March has been our best month for coffee and we see the trend continuing.”

With the XPress lid portable French press, patrons can grab a cup of coffee and go. Shaheen reports that customers like XPress because it is fresh and they can choose any coffee they want, rather than having to want what has been pre-made in a pot.

French Press 101
A French press, also known as a press pot, is a simple coffee-brewing device first patented by Italian designer Attilio Calimani in 1929. A French press requires coffee of a coarser grind than does a drip coffee. Coffee is brewed by placing the coffee and water together, stirring it and leaving to brew for a few minutes, then pressing the plunger to trap the coffee grounds at the bottom of the beaker.

Also great for tea lovers; just add hot water to the loose tea, then push the plunger when brewed to your liking.

Beansmith Artisan Roasters

Flavored coffees, single-origin and estate coffees, organics and house-blend roasts introduced with XPress Lid by SmartCup
Beansmith Artisan Coffee Roasters introduces their flavored coffees, single-origin and estate coffees, and organics and house -blend roasts with XPress Lid by SmartCup
Auburn, CA – Beansmith Artisan Coffee Roasters of La Vista, NE, utilizes XPress lid by SmartCup, a portable, disposable and recyclable French press, to introduce their flavored coffees, single-origin and estate coffees, and their organics and house-blend roasts to their coffee shop patrons. XPress is the ideal product for roasters to use to showcase their inventory of beans.

The XPress lid places the coffee grounds in direct contact with the brewing water, thus retaining more of the coffee’s flavor and essential oils. These flavors and oils are not available in a traditional cup of coffee as they are trapped in the drip-brew machine’s paper filters. French pressed coffee is noticeably stronger and richer than drip-brewed.

“We have received great feedback from our wholesale clients,” said Chris Smith, President of Beansmith Artisan Coffee Roasters. “Our resellers use XPress to introduce our roasts. This allows their clients to experience the entire flavor profile of our beans, and that means more people are enjoying our premium roasts.”

“We are excited to be working with Beansmith Artisan Coffee Roasters,” said Kent Rhodes, CEO of SmartCup. “They understand the value of using a French press to derive the greatest flavor from their coffees.”
